The following post features student writing.

After a nice hike with a breathtaking view, our guide decided to take us to La Iglesia de Pilayo. There, he gave us a brief explanation of the historical context of the site we were visiting.
¡Hola! I’m Ben, from New York City, and I chose this trip because I wanted to learn more Spanish and become more fluent in the language. I also wanted to immerse myself in Spanish culture and fall in love with the language I study.
¡Hola! I’m Mayerling. I’m from San Diego, California, and I chose this program because I think there is always an opportunity to grow as a student, but more so as a person, and this program seemed to fit all that I was looking for. I hope to expand my horizons, meet new people, make new friends, taste new food, walk new streets, and come out of this program with a new view of the world.
On the way to Covadonga in the Picos de Europa, we saw a plethora of wildlife, including cows, goats, and sheep. Weather conditions were ideal to go on a hike, and the view was most definitely beautiful.
We’ve all shared plenty of laughs these past couple of days. In groups of three or four, we went on a scavenger hunt through Llanes. Annie, Eleanor, Lucas, and Mayerling had an interaction with a group of teens, who helped them complete their scavenger hunt.
So far we have hiked, surfed, and had picnics in order to bond with each other. Our favorite activity so far has been surfing. Ben is excited to go to Madrid soon as it will be very different from Llanes. Mayerling is excited to horseback ride on Friday and go kayaking.
Stay tuned,
Ben y Mayerling
