Our last full day in Llanes featured a visit to the mountains, kayaking in the Cantabrian Sea, and a stop at a local artisanal cheese factory on the way back to the hotel. “Un día estupendo por Asturias,” (A great day in Asturias) claimed our guide, Julio. Reflecting on it all over a pizza dinner by the coast, we’d have to agree.

We’ve been keeping the group busy in the best of ways this week by enjoying the unique and rugged beauty of the Spanish north. It is not without lots of laughs and the ebb and flow of a big adventure, and we were so proud today to hear Spanish being spoken already amongst the group without us prompting them. It is a great sign of things to come, especially as we head into an even more secluded area of the country this weekend—Potes!
