Hello, my name is Sophia and I am from New Jersey. I chose this program because I have always had a thing for traveling and experiencing new cultures. A large part of studying a culture is learning its language, so I thought this program would be great for learning Spanish. In the first picture below, most of us are all standing in front of the aqueduct in Segovia. This is the only complete Roman aqueduct of its time left in the world!

The acueduto de Segovia, a nearly 1,900-year-old Roman aqueduct!
The second picture was taken in the plaza mayor with the cathedral in view, and the third picture is our table at the restaurant called El Sitio. There, we ate a typical Segovian dish called cochinillo, which is roast suckling pig. Later, when we got back to Madrid, we went to the park near our hotel and had a picnic instead of eating out again. This is something that we have done before which everyone has enjoyed. We went to the supermarket and got some food and snacks of our choice. A highlight so far has been meeting and getting to know everyone on this trip. I’m looking forward to going to Albacete and getting to meet my day-stay family.

Hi, my name is Chloe and I live in New York City. I signed up for this program because I wanted to spend time outside of the country this summer. I had never gone to Europe before and so traveling to Spain would allow me to do this, and also let me practice my Spanish. The photo below shows the view from the top of the Alcazar, one of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabela’s prized castles. The climb up the castle was tiring, but the view from the roof was worth it. Earlier in the day, we got to meet a group of American and Spanish students who were on a trip similar to our own. It was really cool to see other people who were doing the same thing as us. The highlight of the trip so far has been meeting the other students and also trying new Spanish foods. I am really excited for our day-stay with a Spanish family in Albacete.
